Citizen

She had valid papers, but while she had been away the rules had changed.
"You can't enter the country," said the faceless passport officer.
"What am I supposed to do?"
The man shrugged.
"Next!" he shouted and the woman was pushed aside.
She wandered aimlessly, a citizen of nowhere.
