The boy loved coming to the seaside. He stood in the arcade on the pier feeding coins into various machines which were designed to take all your money with no reward.
He was engrossed and unaware of people running out screaming.
As the tsunami tore the pier apart he fed another coin into the machine that wouldn't let him grab a teddy bear properly.
