Walk part 2

He neared the coast as his timer read 4:46:52.
It was completely dark and he was starting to realise that he wasn't suitably attired for such a walk. Both feet were clearly badly blistered and he had developed a slight limp. The light jacket he was wearing wasn't exactly ideal for a spring evening either.
He clambered down to the beach and headed for the shore.
There was no hesitation. He walked out into the water.
Soon it was waist-high and further movement became difficult, but not impossible.
He continued until his feet no longer touched the bottom.
A long way behind him he was being reported missing.
He swam out to sea, his timer still marching onwards.
