He had
furry, gorilla-esque arms, a thick monobrow and a beard that started growing
almost immediately beneath his eyes. People would kindly describe him as
“sinister” and less-kindly as “terrifying”.
The hirsute
man was out of his audience’s sight as he puppeteered, sitting in the stripy
tent with Punch and Judy held aloft.
The show
came to a close and the children applauded. It was time.
He pulled a
box from his pocket. The box looked like an old Walkman. He twisted a wheel on it
and a blinding white flash of light engulfed them all.
