He'd looked forward to the time off for weeks. At least he wouldn't have to deal with his boss' constant demands and he could relax.
An attempt at a lie-in on day one was ruined by the kids making noise at 6am. The noise would continue all day until bedtime.
Day two was much the same.
By day three he longed to be back at work.
